F5 Weekly Update 24th October

This week things are almost back to normal after the school holidays. Welcome back to those who have been away during the past few weeks.

It has been great to hear about what God is doing in people’s lives. If you have a story to share, we’d love to hear it.

3D Kids resumes on Wednesday. This term the age group is from age 4 to high school, if you know any children, please tell them about 3D Kids – we are putting on a mini musical. We also need help from some crafty people to knit, crochet, glue etc props either with us or at home.

SRE and schools
Continue to pray for our local schools, for staff, students, families and SRE teachers as they resume for the term. Mick Hookham (Primary) and Jen Schabel (High School) are the coordinators

You can contribute to the work of SRE at https://oursre.org.au/fundraising-team.php?id=11159

Election of our new Bishop
The special Synod to elect our new Bishop will be from November 8-10. Please pray for the candidates and for the members of Synod (including Paul, Robyn, Gill, Don and Sally) that they will know who God has chosen and agree with each other.

Drought
In many areas good rain has fallen and things are starting to grow. In other places including Gunning, they have missed out on most of the rain. Please continue to pray for rain and to support organisations like BCA and Anglicare who are working with communities in need. Going for a drive to a country town and spending some money is good too. A special prayer for drought is below.

Special prayer for drought:
All things look to you, O Lord, to give them their food in due season: look in mercy on your people. and hear our prayer for those whose livelihoods are threatened by drought. In your mercy restore your creation and heal our land. So guide and bless your people, that we may enjoy the fruits of the earth and give you thanks with grateful hearts, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

Prayer At the time of choosing a bishop
Eternal God, shepherd and guide, in your mercy give your Church in this diocese a shepherd after your own heart who will walk in your ways, and with loving care watch over your people. Give us a leader of vision and a teacher of your truth. So may your Church be built up and your name glorified; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
